Pediatric Hand and Upper Limb Program
Our team of hand surgeons takes great pride in helping restore function to children’s hands and arms so they can return to the activities they enjoy and live a pain-free life. We treat a wide range of conditions affecting the hands, arms, and elbows, including:
- Congenital (present at birth) conditions such as arthrogryposis (joint contractures), polydactyly (extra fingers), and syndactyly (webbed fingers)
- Trigger thumb
- Hand and upper limb spasticity related to cerebral palsy
- Trauma, fractures, and injuries of the hands and arms
- Tumors, both cancerous and noncancerous, that affect the hand and arm
Our team of hand and upper extremity specialists includes experts with specialized training in caring for children’s hands, arms, and elbows. Children need specialized treatment to maintain future growth potential and maximize function. Our pediatric multidisciplinary teams benefit from pediatric orthopedic surgeons; physical and occupational therapists, including certified hand therapists; orthotists; pediatric plastic surgeons; and pediatric anesthesiologists. Treatment options vary depending on the condition, and we first explore nonsurgical options. We develop customized treatment plans for each patient and involve the family and caregivers every step of the way.
