Motion Analysis Care Team

Jessica Rose, PhD

Dr. Rose is the director of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory and a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. She received her Doctorate degree in Physiology from the Stanford University School of Medicine, her Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Stanford University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Rose has directed the Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory since 1989. She is a member of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM), the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS). Dr. Rose edits the book, Human Walking, 3rd Edition. She serves on the NIH Taskforce for Pediatric Motor Disorders and the AACPDM / NIH Steering Committee on common data elements (CDE) for cerebral palsy, as member of the Neuroimaging Diagnostics CDE working group. She is on the Board of Directors of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT). Her research focuses on neuromuscular and musculoskeletal mechanisms underlying movement deficits in children with cerebral palsy, in order to better guide treatment. Recent research investigates neonatal neuroimaging and physiological correlates of neurodevelopment in very low birth weight preterm children.

Evan Lowe, BS

Evan Lowe is the clinic coordinator and patient testing technician for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in neurobiology and physiology at UC Davis. Prior to joining the Motion & Gait Lab in 2014, Evan worked as an emergency medical technician for three years.

Leslie Torburn, DPT

Leslie is a physical therapist at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Temple University, a Master of Science in physical therapy from the University of Southern California and her Bachelor of Science degree in physiology from the University of California at Davis. Prior to coming to the Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory in 1993, she worked at the Pathokinesiology Laboratory at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, California, under the direction of orthopedist Jacquelin Perry, MD. Leslie is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and is an active member of the California Physical Therapy Association. She is certified in kinesiological electromyography by the Physical Therapy Board of California.

Trudi Heneweer Trygg, BS, PT

Trudi Heneweer Trygg is a physical therapist at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory. She received her Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy from University of California at San Francisco and a Bachelors of Science degree in Cell Biology from University of California, Santa Cruz. She has worked at the Motion & Gait Analysis Laboratory since 2014. Previously, she was Director of Sports Physical Therapy at Ralph K. Davies Medical Center in San Francisco. Currently, she is also a certified clinical instructor for UCSF, Samuel Merritt University and UOP graduate Physical Therapy programs. She has a private practice in Palo Alto and is a member the American Physical Therapy Association. Her professional focus is in movement mechanics.

Katelyn Cahill-Rowley, MS

Katelyn Cahill-Rowley is a bioengineer in the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Motion and Gait Analysis Lab and a Bioengineering PhD student at Stanford University. She received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from UC Davis and her MS in Bioengineering from Stanford. She is currently investigating methods of early motor impairment identification in children born preterm with very low birth weights under an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.

Apoorva Rajagopal, MS

Apoorva Rajagopal is a bioengineer in the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Motion and Gait Analysis Lab and a Mechanical Engineering PhD student at Stanford University. She received her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Stanford University and a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. She is using statistical learning techniques to try and understand the variability in how children with cerebral palsy respond to surgical interventions.
